Year Twelve – Headstart opportunities

What is Head Start and who would benefit from it?

A Head Start course is a 3 day residential experience at a university where Yr 12 students are given the opportunity to study subjects such as various engineering, maths and science courses. This gives them a taster of university life before making their UCAS applications. It is open to all Yr 12 students who are studying Science, Maths and Computing.

There are a number of options at different universities which are held in the summer term after the AS exams. Little Heath School has a history of sending students and many benefit from the experience. Check out the website to download the application or speak to Mrs Byrne, Mr Trim or your maths teacher.

Year Twelve Weekly briefing – for the week beginning Monday 18th November

There is no formal assembly this week. Rather it will be a group assembly, and you will be texted the time and location if you are required at this meeting.

Two actions for this week please.

Firstly can I draw your attention to the post below about the apprenticeship fair in the main hall on Tuesday. This really is an excellent opportunity to start exploring your post-Little Heath options. Take it.

Secondly, you should all by now have seen your first reports. You will receive a full report after your January mock examinations. You should being using these initial documents to inform progress conversations with your mentor and subject teachers.

For an updated list of who will be at the fair please click Here. The quietest time to visit will be period 4 which will be mainly for the sixth form students, so please do wander over – some of our visitors are only attending because they want to recruit 6th form students!
