    Initial Impressions of the University?

My initial impression of the Art College was that the people were really welcoming, easy to talk and most importantly passionate about increasing the school’s reputation as an art school. The College itself is a modern build located in the centre of Plymouth with a lot of excellent facilities.

    Initial Impressions of the town/city
Personally, Plymouth wasn’t for me. It is a mix of traditional (as it’s a seaside town) however does also have modern features. There is a lovely sea, a couple of minutes from the College where they hold concerts in the summer. Plymouth has a very artistic vibe to it but it is overall very traditional with little for the younger person (personal opinion)

What is the biggest strength of the University?
Facilities by far. The college itself has the latest technology to develop student’s artistic skills. Furthermore, the college encourages students to try new things e.g. Fashion students are able to try jewellery making and use the equipment. The students from each course mix together so all students work together and know each other.

    What is the biggest weakness?
Personally, the area it is located… it’s a bit sparse and doesn’t come across as that exciting however the college overall was very good, in the sector I was looking at (Fashion)

    Any points about its accommodation
I didn’t get the chance to look around… however it was mentioned that there was accommodation located 5 minutes away or 15 minutes away

    – Good open day overall
    – Had meetings with the head of the college
    – Displayed work and found out more about the course in depth

Overall, the course was personally everything I was looking for. Interviews for this college start February 2016 and they encourage a strong portfolio with some pieces of writing for this cause. Overall, the grades needed for this course are not that high (looking for three C’s).
