Week beginning 9th March

newsletterIt is Year 13 Parents’ Evening on Thursday – please make sure you have made appointments with all of your teachers.  This is probably one of the most important Parents’ Evenings of your school career.  Now that you have your PPE results and your predicted grades, you can have some serious and constructive discussions about what you need to do in this last critical period.

The Careers Fair is on Wednesday of this week.  Will be very useful for Year 12s, but Year 13s will also find it informative, especially if you are not planning on going to university in September.  See the careers link on the right for a list of exhibitors.

This is also a reminder to ALL 6th Formers that you should be seeing your mentors regularly at the times you have arranged.  You should now be planning and structuring your revision and if you are not very good at this, THEN YOUR MENTORS CAN HELP.  Our advice is that you should be doing 4 hours a week per subject- so 4 subjects = 16 hours a week INDEPENDENT work beyond the classroom in total.  This is a MINIMUM and if you are serious about doing well, then, to be honest, it should be more like 20 hours at the moment and building as we get closer to the exams.

Year 12 have 7 SCHOOL WEEKS until study leave, Year 13 9 SCHOOL WEEKS until study leave.  On top of this you have 2 WEEKS for some serious revision at Easter.

Finally, the 6th Form Committee have been working hard organising the prom and they need your money!  Deposits need to be paid, and if people don’t pay by deadlines, it might not happen.
