Choose a job – then find out how happy you’ll be!

_73714547_3363667[1]This article on the BBC has a league table in it of a survey into how happy people are in their jobs.  It’s not about the money – well sort of.  Be a farmer or a vicar and be happy.  Be an architect or a pub landlord and be miserable…

Year Twelve briefing notes – Week beginning Monday 17th March

number12All,

No assembly this week.

Please do note the taster days post below this one. For reasons we don’t really understand external links are proving difficult again at the moment from wordpress. If you are interested in any of the courses you can get the information / apply by typing  the following into Google –

www.london.ac.uk/tasters

This is your first reminder about the forthcoming Higher Education Conference. This will be on Tuesday 25th March at the Rivermead Centre. You can find directions to it here.  The school day will end after period 3, and you need to make your own way there and back. The number 17 bus would appear to be the easiest way, but please come and see me if you need any help with this.

Our slot is from 2.00 to 3.30 (You need to be there for 1.55). There will be;

  • Stalls from all the universities. They will have plenty of free materials for you, and staff to answer your questions.
  • A talk from student finance.
  • A talk guiding you through how you pick the correct course for you.

Mrs Bullion and myself will be there with the school mobile if you need us. We have packs for you which will answer your other questions. These will be available from Thursday break from the office. If you want to go, but have not filled the forms in, then please see Mrs Bullion or Mrs Bell in the next 48 hours.

This afternoon really is a helpful first step towards planning a university application. I hope that it is constructive.

Have a good week, and keep going.

Mr Kydd.

Year Twelve briefing notes for the week beginning Monday 10th March

sunAll,

Whilst the good weather at last is of course so needed, please please please do not let it turn your head from the reality that we are now 7 school weeks from study leave. Stay focused on the work that you know you need to do.

A few things for the week ahead.

  • There is a formal assembly on Tuesday in the Main Hall. I will tell you about the Higher Education Conference then.
  • If you suffered from examination stress then there is plenty that we can do to help you, but we need to know who you are. Please let your mentor know this week.
  • Please see the posts below this one about non-uniform day.

Have a good week,

Mr Kydd.
