Year 12 Live Theatre Evaluation

Year 12 Live Theatre Evaluation
Struggling with your LVE? Have a look at Frantic’s website which has loads of fantastic resources on their production of Othello. The website breaks down the story and gives you an insight into how they use movement to re-tell this classic tale. It also has some production shots, so if you’re struggling to remember the production in detail have a look at those. It might be useful to fill in their audience feedback form which can be found on the right hand side of the page.

Elevate Me!

confused-character

Elevate Me is the place for 16-24 year olds in Reading to get help, advice and support on employment, work experience, volunteering and mentoring.  It is an all-encompassing site bringing together support and advice from many of the agencies operating in Reading and the surrounding area.

The website  http://www.elevateme.org.uk  has a ‘city’ that is populated by a number of Reading buildings, each building covering a particular topic, with floors that go into more detail

By Spring 2015 a number of the agencies (Adviza, New Directions, Reading Voluntary Action and members of JobCentre Plus) will be housed on the 3rd floor of Reading’s Central Library, our learning hub.  This will give any young person visiting the hub a huge array of agencies that will be able to help them all under one roof.

On 17th November this company will demonstrate what is available on the site and offer advice and help as needed.

Sexual Health Sixth Form Campaign Competition

Protect and Respect – competition for sixth formers to promote good sexual health

West Berkshire Council’s Public Health team are inviting sixth forms in the area to take part in a competition to design and create a sexual health awareness campaign aimed at 16-25 year olds.

The campaign should include preventing sexually transmitted infections, Chlamydia, unplanned pregnancies and what services are available in West Berkshire for young people. The design should promote good sexual health practices and let people know where they can go for good advice. The ‘message’ can be produced in any medium; poster, animation, video, song, play – anything goes!

There is a grant of £200 available for each sixth form to help get the project off the ground and to help organise and collaborate with Public Health and Wellbeing on a half-day health improvement event at your school or college – that will also display the campaign.

There is a £1,000 prize for the winning team to support healthcare education.

Please see Mr J, if you would like to enter for this competition.

The closing date for entries is 1 December 2014 (World Aids Day). Judging will take place during December and the winner will be announced in January 2015. The winning campaign will be promoted across West Berkshire by Public Health and Wellbeing.

There is a course starting on 3rd November on ‘How to succeed at Interviews’ which lasts for 3 weeks and requires 3 hours work per week.  This maybe particularly useful to those students who will be interviewed for university places or students looking for jobs post A-levels.
