Year Twelve Year Twelve briefing notes – The week beginning Monday 7th October

Malala-Yousafzai-All,

We like to think that by early October students feel that they are properly inducted into the Sixth Form. Do you ? If there are some aspects of your studies that are worrying then it is your responsibilty to speak to either your teacher or mentor as soon as possible. On Tuesday we will have our last formal assembly for a while, and it will be taken by Ms Vignali on target setting. You can see the presentation that we gave your parents on Thursday night on the post below, and the key slides from PC Tim Emery’s talk on personal safety can be found here.

On a different point I wonder how many of you could name the young lady in the image above ? She is Malala Yousafzai, and hers is an increbible and  humbling story. You can – and should – find out more about her. I have given your mentors the Sunday Times extracts from her book I am Malala. You might also like to read the following report from the Sunday Telegraph – The girl who dared to defy or watch Monday night’s Panorama.

Have a good week.

Mr Kydd.
