The Sixth Form Library is open from 8.15 am to 4.15 pm daily and is staffed by Mrs M Waggoner, Sixth Form Library Assistant.
The library is available to all students and we actively encourage students to make good use of the resources available.
The library provides a wide range of fiction, together with a large selection of non-fiction books which have been specially selected to support the curriculum. Daily newspapers and a selection of magazines are provided too.
The school library system ‘Eclipse.net’ is available on-line through all school computers, via the link on the library page of this website, or by visiting https://u021080.microlibrarian.net The system allows students, staff and parents to view the school library catalogue online, and students are encouraged to use this to help with research, to write reviews about books they have read, and search for new books that they may like to read. As well as books, the library catalogue also provides links to approved websites.
The first time you access the library system from outside school it may ask you to install Microsoft Silverlight; please allow this to be downloaded and installed on your computer as the system cannot run without out. There is also an App called ‘iMLS’ available for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Android and Windows Phone 7. This App can be freely downloaded by going to your App provider and searching ‘iMLS’.
In addition to the main sixth form library, there is a computer room provided where sixth form students can complete work when they have ‘study periods.’ Both the sixth form library and adjoining computer area are both designated ‘Quiet Study’ areas.
