Welcome Year 12!

number12On Thursday 3rd September, you should get into school by 1.45 and come to the lower 6th Common Room to find out which mentor group you are in.  At 2.05 you will go and meet your mentors and then there will be an assembly at 2.25 in the main hall, after which you can go home or sort out any changes to your course choices/timetable issues.

Lessons start as normal on Friday.  You must register with your mentor at 8.50.

The induction day winners are as follows.

First place: Group 19 –  Matt, Daniel, Jay, Lucy, Amy and Natasha

Second place: Group 15 (Jesh) – Jincy, Sabrina, Harriet, Esther

Third place: Group 18 (Team) – Lizzie, Emily, Jade, Ellie, Nicole, Max, Abin

Fourth place: Group 12 – Lucy, Rachel, Claire, Maddie, Alison

Fifth place: Group 17 – Abbie, Zosia, Laura, Aneesha, Jaimee, Eleanor, Orla, Lauren

These groups came up with the best designs and suggestions as well as answering the most questions correctly.

Overall, these were some of the ideas for the new 6th Form area:

Bike sheds, water fountains, memorial tree for Mr Wilson/Mr Schofield, picnic style benches, composter, school site map, electronic notice board, outside stage area, lockers, wireless phone charger.  Hopefully, some of these suggestions can become a reality.

The winners should come to Mr Hand’s office where they will be given a choice of  stationery from Mrs Bullion’s stationery box (I know, cuts).  Items such as file dividers, highlighter pens, A4 paper and tipex will be very useful however.

You should check this page every week so you are up to date with events, careers opportunities and generally what is going on.

Welcome all.

Mr Hand

EPQ Reading Uni library visits

EPQ-level-3Last week’s interviews were really impressive.  A great range of ideas are out there.  Next step is to do some proper research and work over the summer.  The biggest regret students always have with the EPQ is that they didn’t do more during the summer holidays.

To kick start this, there are library visits today and next Monday.  We will meet outside the 6th Form Block for a 2pm departure and be back by 4.  Please have a look at the university library web page which you can find via the link in one of the posts in the EPQ section.

Names of who is going on what day are on the noticeboard in 6th Form Reception.
