There are so many web sites aimed at helping young people it can be very daunting to know where to look. I have listed just a few of my favourites below but I also wanted to draw your attention to the Adviza Careers Advice Helpline – Monday 4pm – 6pm (0845 408 5050) an independant source of help and advice.
My Favourite Site!
Eclips – Allows you to search by job type or subject ( links subjects to possible job areas). Provides up to date information on a huge range of jobs, including current salary , training and qualifications needed.
Interactive Sites
Careers Box – Short Films on various careers
Job Pod – Similar to Careers box but asks you questions & then suggests jobs with qualifications needed.
Not Going To Uni – Very informative site on options other than University.
General Information Sites
Adviza – Formerly known as Connexions. Very helpful site, features a virtual careers library, career companion to help with job searches and / or to help build a CV.
National Careers Service – Very similar to adviza site. Includes CV builder, advice and information for all age groups with over 800 job profiles.
Apprenticeships – National site for apprenticeships advertising national apprenticeship vacancies. Details the various levels of apprenticeships, training provided, skills involved, and how to register / apply for a vacancy.
Stem Based Sites ( Science,engineering,technology)
www.gocracker.com – Information and news about STEM subjects, industry sectors, apprenticeships, colleges, universities & leading employers. Hundreds of web resources.
