The list below is not just for drama students, if you love theatre or want a fresh stimulus then get your fix this month with these shows!
Sixth Form Festival
South Street, Reading: 22nd July
If you don’t do drama and fancy coming to watch your friends perform at a professional theatre come along to watch a selection of devised pieces from sixth formers all around Berkshire.
Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare
The Shed at The National Theatre, London: 24th July – 18th August
Really good if you are going into year 13 drama, as much experience of this play would be great.
Othello
The National Theatre, London: Now – 5th October
Amazing cast and amazing director, think it will be a great show … I am definitely going!
Seawall, Simon Stephens
The Shed at The National Theatre, London: 25th July – 2nd August
I love Simon Stephens, his plays are exciting and current, he wrote Curious Incident for Stage. Also The Shed is a really exciting venue!
Lovesong, Abi Morgan
Digital Theatre Online: Anytime
This is a Frantic Assembly production which has stopped but you can now watch it online using digital theatre for only £3.99. It is amazing so well worth a watch (I can guarantee you will cry!) and there is loads of other great stuff on this as well.
Tristan and Yseult, Carl Grose and Anna Maria Murphy
Bristol Old Vic, Bristol: 3rd July – 20th July
If you take drama, this is the company you have worked on with Mr Everest so as you know it will be an interesting show and a real experience.
Adventures In Wonderland, Teatro Vivo (inspired by Lewis Carroll Alice In Wonderland)
The Watermill Theatre, Newbury: 12th August – 18th August
This is a bit of a risk and by that I mean it looks mental … but The Watermill is beautiful and it is an outdoor performance. I know nothing about the director or company but I think it would be a nice day out.
Enjoy, Miss Broadhead J
